Coconut Oil Pulling Hearts

Oil pulling is the latest health trend and its kind of weird. For those who do not already know, oil pulling is an ancient folk remedy that involves swishing a tablespoon of oil around your mouth for 20 minutes. There are so many benefits associated with oil pulling. It is supposed to draw out toxins from your body, improve your oral heath, whiten and strengthen teeth, improve your skin and your overall health. There are also claims that it can even relieve headaches and hangovers and help you sleep better.

I have tried over the counter whitening products but they are far too harsh for my sensitive teeth. I got excited about the fact that something so natural could possible brighten my teeth up a bit without causing any damage or sensitivity. I oil pull quite regularly. I noticed my teeth a little bit whiter, but they feel super clean!

These little hearts are so bloody cute and super convenient. I mean at 7am who can be bothered having to go get a spoon from the drawer, walk over to the other side of the kitchen, open up the jar, scoop out some coconut oil then, walk back to the other side to put the spoon in the sink.  Okay it's not really that big of a deal,  but with these babies you just grab the jar from the fridge, pop one in your mouth and your good to go! Also the added peppermint oil in these make them actually taste pretty good and leave you feeling minty fresh.

What you need

1/2 cup of Coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon of Peppermint oil

Instructions

Melt your coconut oil in a pot on a low heat

Remove from the heat and add peppermint oil

Pour into silicon chocolate mould

Place in the fridge until hardened

Keep them in a jar in the fridge ready to use when needed.

Have you tried oil pulling? What did you think of it?

xx

Charlotte Tilbury Faves

I have had a bit of an obsession with Charlotte Tiblury products since I got my hands on the Film Start Bronze and Glow. This product is absolutely amazing, it was love at first use, but we'll come to all that later. Charlotte has created products that are so easy to choose and use. The eye pencils for specific eye colours, packaged sets, and video tutorials make it so easy choose products online. This is especially useful since there are no stockist of her products in Glasgow, or anywhere in Scotland for that matter, I don't think!. This is definitely my favourite high end make up line at the moment. This post is a little selection of my fave products from her line so far.

1. K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in KISS CHASE
This is a beautiful colour and what Charlotte describes as "a tawny berry hue." It has a silky smooth finish, perfect if you have dry lips. Most of my other lipsticks are from MAC but I feel they tend to go 'bitsy' and cracked after a while and don't look so good after re-applying. But this lippy does not do that at all! Its so moisturising, creamy and rich and has great lasting power. The colour is a lot brighter than what it seems from the website. I tend to just dap a little bit on my lips for a day time look and put it on thicker for a more glam night time look.

2. CHEEK TO CHIC in Love is the Drug
I decided I wanted to try more of a pinky blusher as I have stuck to more coral tones for the last couple of years. I am so glad I did. This blusher gives you such a youthful flush and is perfect for my fair skin tone. It is very pigmented and so a little goes a long way, I can tell this will last me for a long time. Charlotte has created this Swish and Pop technique with her blushers were you swirl around the outer shade and apply to the top of the cheek bones then dip into the centre colour and "pop" onto the apples of your cheeks.  The outer colour is a very light almost peachy pink and the centre colour is a beautiful berry colour. They compliment each other beautifully, and it works really well the the Kiss Chase lipstick.

 3. EYES TO MESMERISE in Jean
This type of eye shadow was a first for me. I've always stayed clear of cream eye shadows for some reason. After watching Charlotte's tutorials online for this though I decided to give it a try. This is a beautiful pink champagney colour that gives you an instant sparkly and fresh look.  I tend to use this especially if I am in a rush to get ready as it just glides on and looks amazing on its own with a little liner and mascara. One issue with this product is that it tends to crease a bit after a couple of hours. However applying an eye shadow primer before hand really makes a difference.

4. Film Star Bronze and Glow
As previously mentioned this is my absolute fave! This product is honestly phenomenal. First off the packaging is so luxurious with a rose gold, vintage like case. Its a bronzer (sculp) and highlighter (glow). The bronzer does look quite light but it is very buildable and also blendable giving a lovely natural sculpted finish. The highlight is what I love most about this. It gives you this lovely glow without making you look like a disco ball. Its perfect for during the day but you can easily build up the product if you wanted a more "contoured" look for a night out.

I hope you have enjoy this post. I have fallen head over heals for some of Charlotte's products and have my eye on many more. They are quite pricey but it is one of the first high end lines I have found totally worth it!

Coffee Cellulite Scrub Bars

Coffee is most known as a stimulating drink to kick start your morning or give you a caffeine boost throughout the day. But did you know that coffee has some amazing benefits when applied to the skin? Creating home made scrubs and face masks with coffee is so easy and these little bars are so convenient, not to mention, how cute are they!?
The target for these bars is cellulite. Cellulite, orange peel, whatever you want to call those little dimpling things, we all have it. Even celebs and models, its actually more to do with your genetics than your size. But even though the majority of women have it, we are still always looking for ways to reduce its appearance.

Store bought cellulite creams and scrubs can be pretty expensive and contain lots of chemicals. You will probably already have the ingredients for these bars in your cupboard and its all completely natural!

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons of fresh ground coffee
  • 5 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 3 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of melted extra virgin coconut oil

Coffee is a rich source of antioxidants and so can protect your skin from free radicals, increase its natural defences and help release toxins. Its also a known diuretic and so will tighten skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite when applied topically. Combined with ground cinnamon this will stimulate blood and lymph flow and reduce water retention. The addition of brown sugar and baking soda provides an extra exfoliating kick with soothing coconut oil leaving your skin bright and smooth.

Directions
Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. It will smells amazing. Sprinkle a tiny bit of water into the mixture and mix again. You now want to put your mixture into a muffin tray which makes about 6 bars. Then all you need to do is leave them in the fridge overnight to harden up, go around the edges with a knife and pop them out! The best way to store them is to leave them in the fridge in a little sandwich bag and just grab one when your about to jump in the shower.  You can use this all over your body but pay particular attention to cellulite prone areas and massage well in a circular motion towards your heart.

Tip: Try using fresh ground coffee as it has more antioxidants and caffeine than used ground coffee. And you definetly must use ground coffee, instant coffee will not work. Also if you want to go the extra mile in getting rid of those little dimples, try dry brushing before you shower as this also helps with the exfoliating and increases blood circulation.

Happy Scrubbing!

1. SPA DAY
Theres nothing better than a nice relaxing day with the gals at the beautiful spa. The Blythswood is probably one of the nicest spas in the city centre. The amazing thermal experience is a must before your treatment with its range of saunas, steam rooms and twilight pool. The Ocean Rooms spa at the Hilton in the city centre is also very nice. Be sure to check out groupon for this one as they often have amazing deals for treatments and use of the facilities. Another lovely little spa is 15 Royal Terrace. There are no pool or sauna facilities but they do have a wee cosy lounge area where you can enjoy a cuppa by the fire before or after your treatment. Great for spa parties too!

Did you know Glasgow has been rated the best shopping city in the UK outside of London? Well there's good reason. Glasgow's "Style Mile" is a fashion hub area with a selection of shopping centres, independent boutiques, designer stores and department stores including; Buchanan Galleries, Buchanan Quarter, Argyle Arcade, Princess Square, Ingram Street, St Enoch Centre and House of Frasers. Make a day of it and do a bit of lunch with a glass, ... better make it a bottle, of wine.

3. COCKTAILS
Glasgow has some of the best mixologists, super chic and stylish cocktail bars around! You can't go wrong with a cocktails night (or day) out with the gals. Head over to the TIKI bar and Kitch Inn, a trendy basement bar serving Hawaiian inspired cocktails served in cool tiki cups.
